GCA History
What do you get when you put groups of four students into a room for 48 hours and tell them to invent a mobile game? Apart from the unbearable B/O, you have the most epic competition north of the border.
The Great Canadian Appathon (GCA) is a 48-hour challenge open to Canadian college and university students from coast-to-coast. Upand-coming game developers will race against the clock to design and create the next hit mobile game app.
Individuals or teams of up to four people compete for various cash prizes and eternal glory. Participants will be set up at “HUBS” across the country at a variety of participating university and college campuses where they can work non-stop and free from the light of day for the duration of the event. The grand prize is $25,000, 2nd place $5,000, and 10 3rd place prizes of limited edition Halo 4 Xbox consoles!
XMG will work with the winning teams to polish their games and get them ready to be launched in the applicable application store along side the rest of the world’s best mobile games.
